Biography

Mr. Iaccarino is a founding partner of Barnes, Iaccarino & Shepherd, LLP the successor firm to Roy Barnes, P.C., and currently serves as the Managing Partner of the firm. Mr. Iaccarino is a practicing Union and ERISA Benefit Fund attorney representing a number of Unions and their Benefit Funds in New York and New Jersey. He is a member of the New York State Bar and is admitted to practice before the New York State Courts and the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.

Rick is a frequent lecturer on a variety of issues facing employee benefit plans including the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974, Department of Labor and Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation regulations, and the Affordable Care Act. He is the Chairman of the American Alliance Conference and has lectured on a multitude of topics such as the collection of delinquencies, Department of Labor audits, investment policies and guidelines, travel and expense reimbursement policies, health care reform, and the Pension Protection Act. Recently, Mr. Iaccarino moderated a panel consisting of Taft-Hartley plan administrators hosted by MagnaCare about the developments and new technology available to serve participants.

Rick joined the firm, then Roy Barnes P.C., after graduating from Amherst College in 1984 at the age of 20, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science. While working as an intern at the firm, Rick attended Brooklyn Law School, Evening Division, where he obtained his law degree.

Rick and his wife Diane have five grown children together. He served on the Board of Directors for his neighborhood church baseball and softball league for 18 years and has enjoyed coaching his children in baseball, softball, flag football and boys’ and girls’ basketball and soccer. Although not currently training, he earned a second degree brown belt in Jiu-Jitsu and is most proud of setting the current record for money raised by a boxer in the Long Island Fight For Charity on behalf of Marisa Carney.
